Tips for your digital darkroom

Filed under: Arts — admin @ 2:06 pm

The old school darkrooms have been replaced with scanners, printers and computers. A wedding photographer starting out today has all the tools necessary, to process and print photos, on their desk. These digital darkrooms provide better quality than what was available just 10 years ago. You will need the latest state of the art computer system to process your photos. A 1TB hard drive is the minimum amount of space recommended by pro photographers.

In addition to hardware, you will need to invest in software. Adobes line of software is the most used by professionals today. The most popular and well known is Photoshop. Another key program, you should include in your workflow, is Lightroom.

Photoshop is required for re-touching, cropping, batch processing and more. Lightroom is the preferred software for quick and easy photo editing. It is also widely used for organizing and maintaining a database of all your photographs.
